How to bind and mitre a quilt corner

I have to figure this out every time I bind a quilt so I’m hoping this guide will help me!

Match the binding strip to the front edge of the quilt and sew along the crease to quite near the corner.  Leave the needle in the fabric to hold the pieces still and fold back horizontally on the corner and finger press to form a crease.

Fold again at right angles to form a 45° angle.  Sew right up to the angle but do not sew onto it, back-stitch to secure then remove from machine.

You now need to open up and fold back so that you do not sew onto the corner and refold.

Use your nail to score where you can feel the binding under the top layer and sew from this point.

When you have sewn all around you can fold the binding over to the back.  I like to hand sew the binding to the back for a neater finish.  You can see the corners are perfect on the front and the back.
